Fuel subsidy; FG sets up committee to sensitise Nigerians

TO make government policy on fuel subsidy and deregulation of the downstream oil sector of the economy virile, the Federal Government has set up a committee to monitor and sensitise Nigerians through Town Hall meetings in all the 36 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).


Special Adviser on Political Affairs to President Goodluck Jonathan, in a statement made available to Nigerian Tribune, said that the presidency had given an approval for the inauguration of the committee.

The statement, which specifically charged people from the South-West geopolitical zone to check their names if they are among the members of the committee, gave the names of members from the zone as follows: Mr Yusuff Kunle, (chairman), Chief Gbenga Giwa, (secretary), Mr Olayanju Moruf, (member), Honourable Adetunji Logo, member, Mrs Kehinde Lawal, member and Mr Abdulrazaq Imeize, member.

However, in a separate communique from the Town Hall meeting organised by committee of Nigerian Youth Groups for the advocacy of deregulation of the downstream sector of oil industry (Oyo State chapter), which was held in Ibadan, the group stated that it was committed to anything that would guarantee peace and harmony, improve welfare packages for the Nigerian workers, economy prosperity, gainful employment of the youths at all sectors of the economy and security of life and property of the Nigerian people......
