Liverpool made a last-ditch attempt
to get rid of flop striker Andy Carroll - by offering him to Manchester
City in exchange for Carlos Tevez.
But he has scored only six goals in 35
appearances since his staggering £35million move from Newcastle.
Tevez meanwhile has not played for City since September and was expected to leave the Premier League during the January transfer window.
But potential moves to AC Milan, Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain fell through, leaving the forward in limbo.
His adviser Kia Joorabchian said last
week that Tevez would remain in Manchester until the summer.
Reports also emerged on Saturday that the 27-year-old could join former club West Ham on loan but Joorabchian was quick to play down the suggestion.
'That is one club that is very close to his heart but I think that would not be possible,' he said.
'He is a West Ham fanatic. That is one club that is very close to his heart but I think that would not be possible.
'First of all Carlos is in a
different position at the moment. West Ham are top of the league in the
Championship, they have a good squad, they have a different objective.
They’re in a division that is fighting for promotion.
'It would be very difficult for Man City to want to loan him out because they would have to end up compensating a lot of the salary and why would they do that?'
Struggling: Andy Carroll (centre) has failed to
find his form at Liverpool
The Anfield club made an enquiry
about the Argentine forward
last week but their offer of a straight swap was immediately rebuffed.
Kenny Dalglish's side has struggled for goals since Luis Suarez was suspended for racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.
England striker Carroll has endured a particularly frustrating season but showed signs of his ability in Liverpool's 2-1 FA Cup win over United on Saturday.
